Couples at Australia’s favourite Balinese luxury villa, Villa Sungai, get even more love with the expansion of Sungai Gold, the exclusive ‘owner’s villa.’
Sungai Gold already features the same premium services as Villa Sungai with exclusive only hire, twenty-four hour butlers, personal chefs and chauffeurs and a private concierge in the same magical village location twenty minutes from Legian. Only now, after recent renovations, Sungai Gold has more space with two identical master suites.
Couples can choose to use the second master suite as a dedicated spa treatment room for in-house spa therapy or convert the master suite to two king singles when travelling with children. Two couples travelling together also have the option of a third sleeping space if needed in the Sungai Gold leisure pavilion with a king or king singles bed with private ensuite.
Further expansions to the purpose built Sungai Gold include a second pool deck giving guests a total of four luxury pool loungers plus a king day bed that overlooks the full size pool. Sungai Gold rates for couples have been protected with the expansion to ensure that Sungai Gold is still the best option for those looking for bespoke and intimate romance with luxury in Bali.
Expect the full service and sophistication of the finest hotel with the privacy and exclusivity of a private residence. Bespoke white washed teak furniture mixes it up with Kartell and Philippe Starck trimmings, Chopard and bespoke toiletries and the softest white linens – the best luxury in Bali.
Sungai Gold’s jungle setting in an authentic village twenty five minutes from Legian, provides a natural soundtrack for the ideal holiday destination where intuitive service leads. It is no surprise that the flagship Villa Sungai together with Sungai Gold have featured on Luxury Travel Magazine’s Gold List for ‘best overseas boutique property’ every year since 2009 and topped the list in 2010, 2011 and 2013.
Larger parties may wish to exclusively book both the three bedroom Villa Sungai and Sungai Gold for the ultimate house party with glamour, two full size pools, six king bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
“Two ridiculously private residences that fuse a traditional village experience with five-star trappings to create a bespoke idyll”
The gorgeous Geneva from well known Fashion Blog A Pair and A Spare and Fashion/Travel blogger Jasmine from A Friend in Fashion recently popped in to Villa Sungai for a few days of poolside fun and glamour shooting with Vama Lounge and The Luxe Nomad. Here are a few of the lovely pics taken during their stay, with plenty more to come soon to the blog.

While you are lazing by the pool at Villa Sungai, it wouldn’t be the same without a fabulous cocktail in hand. The Breakfast Martini is a cocktail created by bartender Salvatore Calabrese. The most famous ‘marmalade cocktail’, it is a gin martini with marmalade, orange liqueur, and lemon juice in place of vermouth. The drink was invented in 2000 at the Library Bar at the Lanesborough Hotel in London, England. A similar drink, the Marmalade Cocktail, was invented in the 1920s by Harry Craddock and published in his standard reference book, the Savoy Cocktail Book
VILLA SUNGAI has personalised Salvadore’s breakfast martini: Breakfast (marmalade) martini Serves 1 50 ml gin 20 ml Cointreau or triple sec 20 ml fresh lemon juice 1 tsp finely grated ginger 1 tbsp best quality orange marmalade (we use Beerenberg) Mix or shake in cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Strain into martini glass and garnish with a fine orange peel twist. [At Sungai we rim the glass with powdered ginger and sugar]
Of Salvatore’s top ten cocktails SUNGAI includes their version of 6 of them, however, actually has 5 versions of his first placed ‘martini’ (including their signature limoncello), 2 bloody marys (including an Asian version) and 2 mojitos (including a champagne version). We serve a semi-frozen margarita as it ends up as a classic given our wonderful warm temperatures and the fact that we serve our cocktails pool-side. Our Singapore Sling may even be an improvement on the Raffles version…!
Salvatore Calabrese (“The Maestro”) is one of the world’s leading bartenderscan now be found at ‘Salvatore’s’ at 14 Old Park Lane in London’s prestigious Mayfair and across the Atlantic at Mixology101 nr. Beverley Hills, LA. His Top 10 cocktails in the world are listed below.
Salvatore’s Top Ten Cocktails: Martini, Mojito, Bellini (we do not offer this as we only use fresh ingredients and peaches are rarely available in Bali), Bloody Mary, Manhattan, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Sidecar, Raffles Singapore Sling and the Old Fashion
